Wicker Park

Wicker Park, a portion of West Town, was first known for being home to an ethnically diverse population of immigrants, and then became popular as an artists’ community. Many artists have since been priced out of this trendy neighborhood, with the emergence of new construction properties and vintage rehabs replacing affordable housing stock. Entertainment in Wicker Park includes movies in the park, numerous art galleries, and boutique shopping not found in every neighborhood.

Its boundaries are Bloomingdale to the north, Division to the south, Kennedy Expressway to the east and Western to the west.

Quick Facts
Wicker Park became a popular neighborhood after the Great Chicago Fire, when homeless Chicagoans needed new housing.

Wealthy brewers of the late 1800s built mansions along Hoyne, dubbed “Beer Baron Row” at the time.
